NY Festivals: Gold World Medal for “Olive Green”

“Olive Green”, a film-based course of English designed by the SuperMemo World publishing house from Poznan, Poland, continues on a winning streak. This time, it was awarded a Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals World’s Best TV and Film.

The latest news are exceptionally good for SuperMemo World, Poland’s leading provider of state-of-the-art online and mobile learning solutions and the first company ever to implement spaced repetition in computer-aided learning back in early 1990s.

The company’s flagship product titled “Olive Green”, a course of English from the beginner A1 level to the advanced C1 level based on a full feature interactive action film, earned a Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals World’s Best TV and Film Awards in the Entertainment category (2016/IV/20).

Curiously enough, this full feature action film about the adventures of a dazzlingly beautiful art thief beat the favourite in the category, an HBO Home Entertainment production based on the box office record-breaking “Game of Thrones”.

The New York Festivals Best TV and Film competition saw several thousand applications, out of which 724 finalists from 48 countries around the world were selected.  The awards gala was held in Las Vegas, US, with SuperMemo World represented by Krzysztof Biedalak, CEO, and Alicja Jankowiak, Editor-in-Chief and Executive Producer.

Innovative edutainment

The ceremony was attended by representatives of world’s most famous film and TV production companies, such as CNN, HBO, BBC, ZDF, Deutsche Welle, France 5, Disney Channels, Al Jazeera America, to name just a few.

Given the number of globally recognised brands taking part in the contest, the jury’s verdict to honour SuperMemo World and its non-standard educational production called  “Olive Green” is even more worth underlining and puts the innovative combination of education and entertainment, jointly called edutainment, in the spotlight.

SuperMemo World also offers mobile applications that are available within the subscription fee. 9 interface languages are offered: Spanish (European and Argentinean), German, French, Chinese, Russian, Italian, Polish and English.
