History of KFC

KFC, known around the world for its famous fried chicken, has a story that begins with one man and a homemade recipe. The brand was founded by Harland Sanders, an entrepreneur from Kentucky who started cooking for travelers at a small service station during the Great Depression. His chicken, prepared with a secret blend of 11 herbs and spices, quickly gained popularity among locals.

Over time, Sanders perfected his recipe and began expanding his business through franchising. In 1952, he opened the first official restaurant under the name Kentucky Fried Chicken, marking the beginning of what would become one of the most recognized fast-food chains in the world. His image—dressed in the iconic white suit and black tie—became the brand’s symbol. Since then, KFC has evolved without losing its Southern roots, keeping its original recipe at the heart of its menu.
